Inventive play versus scripted play


Toys have rules and then they don't. You can give a puzzle to preschoolers or toddlers or even school aged children. Then just stand back and watch. There are some children who crave order and will only put the pieces exactly where they are supposed to go. They even get upset if you suggest otherwise or they see others stacking pieces or using dramatic play with them. Others refuse to use structured play and sort, match, and follow the rules. Most children are in the middle. They master the structured rule part of a toy or activity and then they make it their own. Give them the tools and they will build it...

Vitamin D Day....

After morning church the sun was shining so nicely that the kids  were sent outside to eat and play. I told them to go soak up some vitamin D. Evan and Eliot rode bikes.  Etta was so cute proclaiming she was making A B C and vitamin  D. That was the only way I would ever allow those short shorts young lady.... for your health.
