Take care of the Caregivers

We sit with the sick, the dying, the sad, the lonely, the forgotten, the forgetful, the young, and the elderly. But sitting isn't all we do. We cook, clean, bathe, clean up what families won't clean up, we drive to appointments, we are a voice for our clients. We are usually there when they take their last breath. We get the call one day that a shift is canceled because our client has died. We have to work extra shifts because no one else wants the job because it is considered  "unskilled labor". And workers just quit at the drop of a hat. But who cares for the man whose family seems to have forgotten him? Who cares for the blind Veteran who can't cook for himself? Who will care for me?????

Teens for Christ Helena High School

Yep, before that 8am bell rings Gospel Light Baptist Academy is allowed to share the word of the Lord in public school. Slowly but surely even if one soul hears the Word and chooses to follow Christ all our time is worth it. Mr. Rooks is a middle and high school teacher and so much more at GLBA. He has helped Evan come out of his shell so much these past two school years. His spirit and passion for the Word of the Lord is powerful in such a young man. I get to say that because I am 44 and he is probably not too much older than my oldest son who is about to turn 23 :) . If any of my readers who attend HHS are reading come join us. Check out our Facebook page. Just search Teens for Christ Helena, Alabama.

Eli at school again!

Finally the school where the big little kids (yes, when you have 10 you group them that way) had a spot for Elias. The administration and teachers have been trying hard to make it work. They have a waiting list and just don't have room for all the children waiting. Since he already has 5 siblings attending and we are members of the church where it is located we finally got our toe in. His morning teacher is also Elaina and Ben's afternoon teacher. I really like the idea of them attending a small school. Hopefully Eli will thrive like most of other kids have....

Just sew it up...

Etta had a hole in her leggings at the knee. I just can't seem to get Etta and Elaina to understand the need to dress appropriately. Elaina did not wear socks to choir tonight with her tennis shoes. It is freezing outside and she seems not to care. I guess I have to keep socks in my bag from now on. I happened to have my quilting project still on me so I patched up Etta's hole in her leggings real quickly with her help. Blue string on purple hand me downs but at least no hole :) .

Hair... why bother?

When your hair feels like straw, you never have time to wash it and no one notices anyway just chop it off. I want long hair but it just isn't meant to be. As my sister always said growing up, "Do something with that thin, stringy, oily hair. It looks awful." I did....

Happy Birthday yesterday Bennie!

9 years old! Ben was probably my easiest birth. Before a picture could have been taken he was out. The doctor asked me to predict when he would be born. I said before 2pm. We arrived at the hospital at 8am.  He arrived at 1:47pm I believe. I know it was before 2pm....

Sorry I was a day late posting Ben...

I am really enjoying Grove's service. Things I was already buying and new things I didn't know about to clean easily and safer brought straight to your door....
