13 days till solstice

The kids are gearing up for the Winter Solstice. Lyn is in charge of organizing some activities. We have decided to focus on each of the four elements in nature one at a time daily repetitively so each is represented twice with the last day actually being winter solstice.

Today our focus was on fire. We lit candles in the living room and did not turn any other lights on in there all night. Lyn baked chocolate cookies from scratch with the help of the little kids. Annika ground dried rosemary (my favorite herb) and added it to a soapstone oil warmer with a candle as its heat source.

We spent an hour going over what other activities we want to do. Tomorrow we will focus on water. Lyn already set out a decorative glass with water in it to freeze outside in the moonlight.
